Renew Prayer: Crossing Over…Leave It Here!

Sep 9, 2026    Pastor Felicia Dexter

As we prepare our hearts for the Spiritual new year and enter three days of fasting and consecration, this prayer calls us to pause and ask: What cannot go with me where God is taking me?

Before Israel crossed the Jordan, Joshua instructed the people, “Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5). Consecration came before the crossing. In the same way, we are making room for God to search our hearts, reveal what needs to be released, and realign us with His will.

This is a time to deal with what God has already been convicting us about—to forgive what needs forgiving, surrender what we have been trying to control, break agreement with fear, discouragement, unhealthy cycles, and old mindsets, and receive courage to obey God’s next instruction.

As you listen and pray, ask the Holy Spirit for clarity concerning your relationships, family, finances, decisions, purpose, and assignments. Don’t rush through these three days simply trying to complete a fast. Seek God. Listen. Write. Repent. Release. Obey.

Let this be your posture as you prepare for what is ahead:

Hands open. Heart clean. Ear attentive. Will surrendered. Word in your mouth. Feet ready to move.

The new requires a new posture. Don’t carry into tomorrow what God is asking you to leave today.
